Job description:

Our well established logistics client is looking a buyer to join their small but effective team in Newmarket, Suffolk. With benefits such as on site parking and team bonuses depending on company person this is an opportunity that should not be missed for the right person. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify and process appropriate orders of stock 
  • Manage safety stock levels as appropriate to the type of product and the reliability of the supplier
  • Minimise stock failures to customers
  • Liaise with the warehouse on space and stock issues
  • Help with the development and implementation of MRP/MPS
  • Work with all suppliers to negotiate best deals where appropriate and work with other departments to improve cost effectiveness.
  • Monitor invoicing procedures and resolve any issues in conjunction with the Finance
    Department
  • Monitor material quality and the performance of suppliers.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers outlining where an unacceptable standard of materials or performance has been identified.
  • Be aware of continuing product development in light of changes in legislation i.e. building regulations etc.
  • Attend regular supplier review meetings and any other relevant meetings as required
  • Ensure effective communication between departments, peers and senior management.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required.

Essentials:

  • Has previous experience in the procurement and purchase of materials.
  • Has excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels.
  • A team player with a positive attitude towards work.
  • Proactive with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • IT skilled. A good working knowledge ERP systems such as Sage X3, or similar, and excellent Excel skills
  • Has the ability to prioritise work, within competing deadlines and use initiative in a variety of situations.
