I am working with a company in Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire who are looking to appoint a Machine Shop Operator to work predominantly within the CNC milling department. A minimum of 2 years of experience working with CNC machines is required and a working knowledge of FANUC controls is a distinct advantage.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that health & safety and environmental precautions are followed and standards of cleanliness and tidiness are maintained
  • To work to the company standards and procedures
  • To set up new products on the CNC machines, recording information as required, ensuring output and quality targets are achieved and optimising production performance
  • Check and maintain tooling in the CNC machines, informing the machine shop manager of any requirements
  • Rectify any problems with parts or processes as they arise
  • Use personnel protective equipment as requested by the company
  • Be part of a team of people ensuring output and quality targets are achieved, optimising production performance
  • Train to be able to set up ancillary equipment as requested
  • To carry out regular maintenance and cleaning of the machines as required
  • To work within and encourage others to follow the company’s policies for attendance, lateness and break times
  • To look for and actively progress opportunities for continuous improvement within the production environment, especially in the machine shop.
  • To carry out any other duties deemed necessary by the management team

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Cross train to be able cover other Operators & Team Leader
  • To translate information and drawings provided into effective CAM programs
  • To attend company training courses as further development in the role.
  • Train in the use of the CMM machine and associated measuring techniques
  • Weekend and shift working may be required.

 

Shift working patterns   

Mornings 06:00 – 14:00 Monday to Thursday and 06:00 – 13:00 Friday.

Evenings 14:00 – 22:00 Monday to Thursday and 13:00 – 20:00 Friday.

 

Overtime is available but not guaranteed at time & third of basic rate.
